City Montessori School (CMS) is recognized by the Guinness Book of World Records as the “Biggest School in the World”, with 20 campuses across Lucknow and over 51,000 students enrolled from Montessori to Class 12.
A2Q is helping CMS ideate and implement a low resource but high impact system for collaborative, inquiry-based, and data-driven teacher professional development across the school’s many campuses. The aim of this project is to systematize and institutionalize the concept of collaborative inquiry among teachers, in order to enhance the quality of classroom teaching practices and thus positively impact student learning outcomes. To this end, we have been establishing professional learning communities (PLCs) within the schools. Our goal is to organically and systematically engage all 2000 teachers at CMS in active PLCs over the next three years.
Scaled PLCs to 4 more campuses, based on the resounding success encountered in 1 campus, making our total pilot size between 50-60 active PLC teams.
Conducted a reflection meeting with all PLCs, using data to assess the initiative’s effectiveness, and decided to continue running the pilot based on the positive trends observed.
Conducted workshop on ‘Professional Learning Communities’ and launched 15 PLCs as a pilot with the English and Math teachers across an entire campus.
